FOX BRUSH MORGANS began
in l988 with the purchase of four Morgan yearling stud foals from Funquest Farms
in Topeka, Kansas.
Breeding Morgan horses was not our goal at
that time; rather they were purchased in hopes of them becoming Competitive
Driving horses. The four
colts that we purchased were the last four Morgans left in Stuart Hazards
dispersal of his Funquest Morgan herd and were:
Funquest Erick, Funquest Sharpwing, Funquest OhOh and Funquest PopPop.
Of these four,
F. PopPop was gelded and later sold
as was F. OhOh, after he
went on to be the first Morgan to compete in the Battle of the Breeds
representing the Morgan breed.
Funquest Sharpwing
become a Jr. Western Pleasure winner as well as a double National
Reserve Champion Competitive Trail Horse for both the Morgan breed and NATRC ,
completing 500 miles of Competitve Trail, sound and fit, and still resides at FOX
BRUSH.
Funquest Erick became only the second Morgan
in the history of the breed to be named MORGAN SPORT HORSE and was the first
Morgan
to be branded and
approved by
the AMERICAN
WARMBLOOD SOCIETY with
a score of 83% which ranks him in the top 10 of
ALL breeds of Warmbloods tested and is an approved
AWS breeding stallion, and remains
a very important sire at FOX BRUSH MORGANS.
FOX
BRUSH MORGANS began
our breeding program in l990, with the purchase of
Morgan mares with heavy
lines of Flyhawk, Linsley, Tehachapi Allen
and Jubilee King lines and that is the basis of our breeding program to
this day.Our breeding program utilizes the old Government Remount/Cavalry lines
, thru Brunk, Brown, Sellman, and
the Hill lines of the Morgan breed.
These
lines were astutely blended by Stuart Hazard in his Funquest breeding program.
The Funquest Morgans are known for their beauty, disposition and athletic
ability in whatever discipline they compete and have proven themselves as
working horses, as well as in the show ring.
We
think the Funquest breeding has left an indelible mark on the Morgan breed
and we are attempting to preserve and perpetuate the versatility and
inherent athletic abilities of the
Funquest Morgans and the Morgan breed.
